1986-2026: 40 years of WGMS
For this occasion, we will reflect achievements and future challenges in glacier monitoring with our national correspondents and international partner organizations at this years WGMS General Assembly. As in former times, the General Assembly will be split into three regional meetings, which allows us to focus on regional challenges and networks and to cut the related carbon footprint by half.
The meeting in Kathmandu, which is meant for our National Correspondents from Asia, will happen in March 2027.

ICIMOD, Kathmandu, Nepal, 2-3 day meeting between March 15 and 24, 2027

first day: WGMS office report and country reports
second day: achievements and challenges
third day: excursion?
An invitation to this meeting will be send out to the National Correspondents in Asia. A detailed program will be provided later this year.
